Celebrate Pride week in Madrid: love, equality and sustainability
01 julio / 2019
This week is Pride week in Madrid and as one of the first countries in the world to legalize same-sex marriage, Spain has been a leader in reducing inequalities. The first pride celebration in Madrid was in 1977, with only a small parade. However, just as equality has progressed, so has Pride week, as one of the largest celebrations in the world. While the parade on Saturday is perhaps the most recognized event, there are many other great activities that will take place during Pride week:
July 3rd – Kickoff to Pride
July 4th – The High Heels Race
July 5th – Mr. Gay Pride
July 7th – Closing Ceremony
Peaceworx appreciates events like pride, where the goal is to reduce inequalities and promote gender equality. As an organization that works towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, we are excited to attend Pride and show our support.
